India
with its diverse climate and varied terrains offers a natural habitat
to a multitude of wild animals and birds. From the magnificent peacock
to the gentle and gigantic elephants -they all find a home in the
Indian forests.
Throughout
the Indian subcontinent numerous sanctuaries have been established,
some small and obscure but with a definite purpose such as the Keibul
Lanjoo National Park in Manipur to preserve the last refuge of the
world's rarest deer - the Sanghai or Manipur Brow-Antlered deer.
An example of the wild beauty available in the country can be seen
at Ranthambore. A combination of forest and scrubland in which nestle
six lakes, the River Banas and its tributary make Ranthambore an
ideal place to see tigers. Reputed to be India's finest, the tigers
at the Ranthambore National Park are a magnificent sight to behold!
The safari drives through the forests are spectacular and the landscape
is dotted with ruins of old Rajput palaces and hunting lodges.
Similar
wildlife parks and sanctuaries spread across the country offer a
fascinating experience to lovers of nature. Take refuge in the quietude
and watch the animals in their natural domain. It would be an unforgettable
adventure.
