1. A single entry tourist visa can be obtained from the entry points of Nepal or from the Royal Nepalese diplomatic missions abroad by paying US$ 30 for 60 days. If visitors wish to obtain the facility of a single, double or multiple re-entry, they can get it by paying an additional US$ 25, US$ 40 and US$ 60 respectively.

2. If a visitor, who has already visited Nepal under a tourist visa, intends to come again within 150 days of the same visa year he/she can obtain an entry visa by paying US$ 50 for 30 Days at the entry points or at the Royal Nepalese diplomatic missions abroad.

3. The visitors who wish to stay for more than 60 days in Nepal can extend their tourist visa by paying the equivalent of US$ 50 in the Nepalese currency for 30 days from the department of immigration.

4. A trekking permit is not essential for the general trekking areas such as The Everest, The Annapurna and The Langtang.

5. A Business visa with multiple entry for the period of one year and five years can be obtained from the department of immigration on the recommendation of the Ministry of Industry by paying the equivalent of  US$ 100 and US$ 250 respectively in  Nepalese currency.

KATHMANDU: Also known as ‘Kantipur’ is situated at 4,423 ft. Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, is surrounded by mountains and snow-capped peaks. The art and architecture reflect an interesting blend of Hindu and Buddhist thought. Sightseeing includes visiting Hanuman Dhoka–historic seat of royalty, Temple of the Living Goddess, Kashthamandap, Machhendranath Temple, Pagoda Temple and Patan.

SWAYAMBHUNATH: 3 kms west of Kathmandu, Swayambhunath is 2000 years old and one of the world’s oldest Buddhist Chaityas. Painted on the four sided bases of the spire are the all-seeing eyes of Lord Buddha. It is a very holy pilgrimage centre for Buddhists and Hindus alike.

PASHUPATHINATH: 5 kms from Kathmandu and dedicated to Lord Shiva this Pagoda style temple is situated on the bank of the sacred Bagmati river. It has a gilt roof and richly carved silver doors and is one of the holiest temples in the entire Hindu world. Pashupatinath is the centre of an annual pilgrimage on the day of shivaratri. Only Hindus are allowed to go inside the courtyard of the temple. Tourist can view the temple from the eastern side of the Bagmati river.

BOUDHANATH: 8 kms from Kathmandu, this colossal stupa, one of the biggest in the world, is built on an octagonal base. It too has the all seeing eyes of the Buddha, inset with prayer wheels. The shrine is ringed by houses of the Goddess Mani Jogini and lamas or Buddhist priests.

BHADGAON: (Bhaktapur—‘the City of Devotees’) is a centre of medieval art and architecture. The legendary city was founded by King Ananda Dev in 889 A.D. and is shaped like a conch-shell. Pottery and weaving are its traditional industries. Visit Durbar Square and Nyatapola Temple—a 5 storied pagoda style temple.

PATAN: On a raised ground about 5 kms southeast of Kathmandu stands the ancient city of Patan, full of gateways, guardian deities and endless carvings. Noted for its craftsmen and metal workers, it is known as the ‘City of Artists’. Visits include Durbar Square, Hiranya Varma Mahavira, Krishna Mandir, Macchendranath Temple, Meri Nath Temple, the Ashoka Stupa and Tibetan handicraft centre.

DAKSHINKALI: This temple is a place of pilgrimage dedicated to Goddess Kali, the deity to whom animals are sacrificed on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The Dakshinkali sanctuary is located approximately 45 minutes by car from Kathmandu city. The road leading to Dakshinkali is very picturesque.

DHULIKHEL: (5,000 ft.) A small quiet township on the Chinese built road that links Kathmandu to Lhasa (Tibet). From its flower covered hillsides one of the most spectacular scenic view is visible, specially the sunrise and the sunset over the snow-capped mountain ranges.

POKHARA: The Pokhara Valley is one of the most picturesque spots of Nepal. The Lakes Phewa, Begnas and Rupa here have their source in the glacial region of the Annapurna Range of the Himalayas. 203 kms from Kathmandu, Pokhara is connected by air as well as road.

NAGARKOTE: 35 kms east of Kathmandu and 7,133 ft. above sea level, Nagarkote is a round-the-year holiday resort. The major peaks of most of the eastern Nepal Himalayas including Sagarmatha (Mt. Everest) can be seen from here.

SIMBHANGYANG: About 96 kms away, highest point 8.000 ft., is on the highway to India. A breathtaking view of the mountains including Mount Everest.

KODARI: The Kodari Road, also known as Chinese Road, was built with the financial and technical assistance of the People’s Republic of China, by the Chinese and Nepalese engineers. It links Kathmandu with the Chinese border point and beyond that it continues upto Lhasa. This point is reached by a thrilling 115 kms drive through mountainous terrain. Kodari commands a fine view of the mountain peaks including Mount Everest.
