Day 01: Arrive Rome
Arrive into Rome this morning. Make your way to the hotel and check in. The rest of the afternoon is free for you to explore this ancient capital city. At 18:00 hrs its time to meet your Tour Director and fellow travellers following which you are escorted for a special welcome dinner with some wine at one of Rome’s lively restaurants. Overnight in Rome.

Day 02: Rome
Its time for some sightseeing with your local guide, starting with a visit to the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel, world famous for Michelangelo’s ceiling paintings and The Last Judgement. Continue to the monumental St. Peter’s Square and the Basilica. Cross the Tiber and visit the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, where Roman Legions marched in triumph. Later you have time to explore the city further. Overnight in Rome.

Day 03: Rome/Capri/Sorrento
Post breakfast you travel south on the Highway of the Sun to lively and colourful Naples, before embarking on your trip to the Isle of Capri, an ancient retreat for Roman emperors and renowned ever since then for its beauty. Here sightseeing with a local guide includes a visit to Villa San Michele in Anacapri. Later, you cross the bay again to the charming resort of Sorrento. You have time to check out the local shops and discover the lively town centre. Overnight in Sorrento.

Day 04: Sorrento/Taormina
We head off to the isle of Sicily this morning. Enjoy the scenic drive to the toe of the Italian boot in Calabria, from where you board a ferry to cross the Strait of Messina to Sicily, the largest of the Mediterranean islands. Tonight you are in Taormina, a beautiful resort overlooking the sea and facing Mount Etna. Overnight in Taormina.

Day 05: Taormina
The day is yours to explore at your own pace. We recommend you taking the optional excursion to Mount Etna in the morning. Following this you could shop for hand embroidery and local goods, and live it up at one of Europe’s most popular beach resorts, or simply relax. Overnight in Taormina.

Day 06: Taormina
This morning you visit Syracuse, birthplace of the mathematician Archimedes and once a powerful Greek port whose fleet was feared throughout the Mediterranean, attracted visitors such as the philosopher Plato and later the Apostle Paul, who converted its citizens to Christianity. A local guide will take you into the Archaeological Site. Also in store is a visit to the 5th century B.C. sparkling white Greek Theatre that could seat up to 16,000 people, the Garden of Paradise, the Ear of Dionysus with its extraordinary acoustics, the Altar of Hieron II, the Roman Amphitheater and the Cordmaker’s Cave. Overnight in Taormina.

Day 07: Taormina/Agrigento
The day is devoted to the scenic beauty and ancient Greek treasures of southwest Sicily. This morning we focus on the 4th century B.C. Roman Villa of Casale near Piazza Armerina. Its colorful and perfectly preserved mosaics depict mythological themes and hunting scenes. Enjoy the ever-changing landscapes of the interior as you drive to Agrigento, where a local guide will walk with you through the breathtaking Valley of Temples. Even travellers who have visited Athens and Delphi are awed by the gigantic yet graceful Greek structures that have miraculously survived 24 centuries of tormented history. Overnight in Agrigento.

Day 08: Agrigento/Selinunte/Palermo
This morning you visit the impressive Dorian Temples and Acropolis in Selinunte. Built on a natural balcony overlooking the sparkling Mediterranean, these accomplishments of an ancient civilization may prompt you to think about the quality of human progress since those days of Greek splendour. We then drive on to Palermo. Overnight in Palermo.

Day 09: Palermo
The day is packed with visiting the ornate Piazza Bellini, the Cathedral, and the Arab-Norman Palatine Chapel in the Royal Palace, with a local guide. Later you drive up to Monreale for a panoramic view of the Conca d’Oro and a visit to the 12th century Norman Cathedral, famous for its 50,000 square feet of precious Byzantine mosaics. The evening ends with a farewell dinner celebrating the success of your Sicilian vacation. Overnight in Palermo.

Day 10: Depart Palermo Its time to bid farewell today as you make your way to the airport to board your flight back home.
